So last last week when we were knocking we met this very unpleasant old man (maybe her was having a bad night or something) but man he was just ripping us apart, it definitely wasn't the most fun time that I've had on my mission. Something that he brought up a lot was how we couldn't speak with "the tongue of angels" and I, being human, dwelt on that and let it discourage me a little. I started to wonder if I was someone the spirit could speak through or if this whole time being out here I've just being saying what I have wanted to say, and by doing so was preventing people from excepting the gospel. It wasn't until I started to wrote in my journal (which was a testimony builder for writing in journals) that I realized I was wrong. Two specific experiences came swiftly into my mind. The first experience happened the same night that we met this man. We met another man knocking and he let us in for a couple minutes. While he was talking he mentioned something about agency and so we taught him about how agency was a gift frim god, we first used it up in heaven when we lived with God before and chose to come to this earth. While we said this his facial expression had changed and you could tell he was pondering. It was quiet for a few moments and after awhile he just said "I hadn't ever thought of that" referring to living with God before:) in the end he wasn't interested but he thanked us for what we had told him and he said that he was going to think a lot more about living with God before. The second thing that came to my mind was this converation that we had with Shania(who's investigating) during church. We had gone to the bathroom just before relief society and when we got to relief society Shania wasn't there. We had a feeling that something was up so we went and looked for her and found her in the mothers lounge. We could tell that she had been crying. She explained to us that she just felt so lost and far away from God. We talked with her more but she didn't seem to be feeling any better. We were quiet for a few seconds and then I thought to help her see her own progression. I can't remember what we told her but after we were done taking she wasn't looking down at the ground anymore, she was looking up at us with tears in her eyes (but this time they were happy tears). She said "I can't even what is was that you said exactly...but I feel different". She was feeling god's love for her and His exceptance of her efforts:).
Speaking with the tongue of angels isn't jus speaking in a different language. It's speaking when we are moved upon by the spirit, and that's something that we can all do if we're willing to trust God and open our mouths.
So this week is transfers! And I am 99.9% sure that sister claus and I will be staying together for round 3!!
I went on exchanges with sister nowlon. It's so funny how we've just been around each other for my entire mission. The weather here was CRAZY this past week week, lots of snowstorms. So we found lots of apartment buildings to knock. I love knocking apartment buildings, it's just way more thrilling because you never know if you might get kicked out or not. We had a 4th floor last door experience except we call it our 3rd floor last door experience. We got let into this one apartment building except when we went to what apt number had let us in,it didn't say. So we started from the bottom and ended up finding who had let us in on the top floor at the last door. The mom answered and we introdiced ourselves and then the dad came to the door snd said "oh my our 10 year old boy has been asking us soo many questions about God, do you have like 5 mins that you could come and talk to him?" Well 5minutes turned into an hour and at the end bryson who is the ten year old boy and Bruce who is the dad both prayed!! It has been our goal this transfer to find a family to teach and we did it!! It's the first family that I've taught so far on my mission!! The dad had met missionaries before in Alberta. They did gardening for the older lady who lived above him haha I just think it's so cool how people are prepared to hear the gospel, those missionaries just have no idea that Bruce is where he's at right now. There are probably so many things that we have done for the people around us that we have influenced and we just have no idea:).
Also this week I got to go to french sessions at the temple because sister claus is french haha and we got to be apart of the sealing of the Dyvrade family! They live on this french island out by newfoundland and are the only members there. They were baptized a year ago in the previous place that they lived. In my blessing that president samuelan gave me in my farewell interview at the mtc he said that on my mission I would get to see the sealing powers of the temple on my mission and it was just so cool to see that promise be fulfilled. I didn't know how it would be possible, haha I never would have guessed that I would get to be apart of a french sealing!
Another cool thing that happened this week was that we were invited in to have frozen biscuits with this old naked man:) we kindly declined
Love you all! I hope you are all as excited for general conference as I am
Love sister wood!!
